For the third 12 months, Tiny Desk concert events group up with globalFEST for an exciting on-line music pageant — Tiny Desk meets globalFEST.

Hosted by Angélique Kidjo, the sequence echoes globalFEST’s reside flagship occasion in spirit however is centered within the framework of the Tiny Desk live performance sequence. This collaboration presents unique video performances from 9 artists filmed of their respective homelands, on the street and in exile everywhere in the world. Taraf de Caliu, Romania

Noura Mint Seymali, Mauritania

Noura Mint Seymali is Mauritania’s defining artist on the worldwide stage. Drawing on the timeless repertoire of the Moorish griot, a hereditary class of musical poets and historians, her band conjures “a full blown sandstorm of hypnotic grooves, melding conventional Mauritanian devices inside an electrified psychedelic rock band.” Increasing a sound born of Arab and sub-Saharan roots, Noura Mint Seymali bends the arc of Moorish musical custom to suit our up to date second.

Justin Adams & Mauro Durante, U.Ok. / Italy

Justin Adams & Mauro Durante launched an award-winning debut album, Nonetheless Transferring, in 2021, transferring from serene minimalism to wild catharsis. Adams (producer of Tinariwen’s breakout albums and guitarist with Robert Plant) performs with a post-punk guitar method enriched by his ardour for Arabic music and African trance blues, whereas Durante is a sought-after violinist and percussionist and chief of southern Italy’s acclaimed Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, who carried out its iconic taranta and pizzica dance songs at globalFEST in 2012.
