TAGUM CITY — Three small-scale miners died after allegedly inhaling noxious gases whereas working inside a tunnel in a gold-rich village of Pantukan, Davao de Oro over the weekend, police on Sunday stated.
A report from Pantukan police station stated Jelbert Lastimado, 25; Ariel Jayson, 23; and Julito Torifiel, 25, all of Tibagon village of Pantukan city, died whereas working inside a gold mining shaft at Purok (neighborhood) 50 of the city’s Barangay Diat previous 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 11.
Police stated one of many victims had entered the tunnel forward of the others when he all of a sudden collapsed, prompting the 2 others to drag him out.

Police are investigating the reason for the victims’ deaths.
